What Is Silicone Molding?

Silicone molding is a low-volume manufacturing process used to create flexible, rubber-like, or cast prototype parts. It is often used after a master model is created by 3D printing or CNC, then used to make a mold for producing multiple copies with consistent shape and finish.

๐Ÿงช

Low-Volume Production

Useful for short runs before investing in expensive tooling or injection molding.

๐Ÿงค

Flexible Parts

Great for rubber-like parts, grips, gaskets, bumpers, covers, and soft-touch components.

๐Ÿ“ฆ

Prototype Samples

Create realistic product samples for testing, presentation, marketing, or investor review.

๐Ÿ”

Repeatable Copies

Produce multiple similar parts from one approved master model or prototype.

Best Applications

  • Flexible product prototypes
  • Rubber-like parts and soft components
  • Gaskets, bumpers, grips, and covers
  • Short production runs
  • Product samples and presentation models
  • Urethane casting and low-volume molded parts

Pros & Limitations

Pros

Good molded feel, flexible material options, repeatable copies, better surface finish than raw 3D prints.

Limitations

Requires mold setup, higher upfront cost than single 3D prints, not ideal for frequent design changes.

Silicone & Casting Options

Soft Silicone

Flexible option for grips, covers, bumpers, and soft-touch parts.

Clear Silicone

Useful for translucent or visual prototype samples.

Urethane Casting

Good for low-volume plastic-like parts and production samples.

How It Works

01

Send Your Design

Send your CAD file, sample part, drawing, or project details.

02

Create Master Model

A master part is prepared through 3D printing, finishing, or other methods.

03

Make the Mold

A silicone mold is created from the approved master model.

04

Cast & Deliver

Parts are cast, finished, inspected, and prepared for pickup or shipping.
